Rochelle Haas

Rochelle is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She spent years as lead decorator for Sears in Chicago, then went out on her own, designing interiors and window treatments for private clients in New York and Las Vegas, including well-known clients. She is also an artist.
She hangs smaller jobs herself and coordinates installers and her own team on larger ones. She has dealt with the mistakes this site exists to prevent, from a room left a strip short to two dye lots meeting at a seam. Today this site and the advice she gives through it are her full-time work.
What she actually does here
Rochelle does not write the guides. The Roll & Bloom team writes them, and Rochelle reads them for accuracy before they carry her name, marks what is wrong or misleading, and tells us what we have left out. Where she and a published source disagree, we say so on the page rather than quietly picking one.
She also answers readers. Rochelle is not taking on design clients, but if you are stuck on a project, write to hello@rollandbloom.com and she will reply by email.
She reviews the calculators themselves too, which is a different job. A formula can be arithmetically correct and still give an answer no installer would act on. Our methodology page exists so that anyone, Rochelle included, can check the working rather than take our word for it.
How we credit her
Any guide showing "Reviewed by Rochelle Haas" has been read by her in the version you are looking at. If a guide has been substantially rewritten since her last pass, the review credit comes off until she has read it again. We would rather show you an unreviewed page honestly than a review credit that has quietly gone stale.
Why this matters to us
A lot of wallcovering advice online reads fine and is wrong in the specific ways that cost you a wasted order or a bad weekend. Having an experienced decorator and installer read every page before it goes up is the best check we have on that.
